So I’ve finally come down to two final options with the Rutgers Honors college (in-state) and Northeastern. I plan on studying computer science. Here’s my dilemma. Northeastern is around 50k per year while Rutgers is 20k. Both programs are similarly ranked, but I feel that Northeastern would offer me incredible opportunities through its co-op and location that Rutgers simply cannot. If I do go to Northeastern my parents would be able to pay (we wouldn’t take on much debt). My question is simply whether or not Northeastern is worth it at its much higher price point. I would like to add that I am not entirely sure what I want to do post graduate. Thus, I want to make the most out of my undergraduate experience, even if that means paying a little more.
Not really I don’t think the coop adds something specially… a friend of mine daughter went to Rutgers … interned at Goldman Sachs and after graduation joined the firm… her major was CS
Save your money for grad school
Co-op has its advantages but it’s not a magic bullet that will magically beat Rutgers, a great school, in postgrad outcomes categorically. Rutgers is probably the better financial decision here. You would have to really hate Rutgers and not able to be happy there at all for Northeastern to make sense here.
At 2.5x, not even close. Go to RU.
Rutgers has coop opportunities to…they are just not mandatory.
