Rutgers Honors College?

Assuming I end high school with these stats what are my chances?

GPA: 4.2 weighted 3.9 Unweighted
SAT: 1550
2 APs Most of all my other classes were honors

EC’s
Spanish Honors Society
Pre Med Club
Wind Ensemble (Honors Band)
School Newspaper
Volunteering at hospital
Writing and publishing online novels (not officially published)
Future Medical Leaders of America conference (It was only for a few days, but I don’t think it counts though)

I’m aware that my EC’s are pretty weak due to a lack of leadership positions. I’m currently in sophomore year, do I still have time to improve them or am I pretty much screwed at this point.

@OhAnon - depends on the candidate pool and school you apply to. Pharm and engineering are very competitive. You’d be surprised how competitive. 2 APs may not be sufficient for pharm and engineering Honor College but good enough for the honors program.

@anthrdy I’d be applying to the schools of arts and sciences. I plan to major in psychology, which is pretty common I think.

You have plenty of time to strengthen your resumé. Make sure that you find something this summer that will be conducive to leadership experience. Colleges do not like to see wasted summers. If you can strengthen your extra-circulars, and keep your GPA high, or push it even higher, you have a good chance at getting into the Honors College.

@BingBong284 Do you think starting a club could count for leadership experience and then over the summer I could volunteer?

Yes, that’s a great start. Try and start a club that ties into your intended major; same goes for your volunteering. This will show dedication for the discipline, as well as a desire to pursue your passion.
