Hello, guys!
I am a junior girl (important!) right now from public hs in nj.
I am considering going to either Computer Science or Medical school like i stated.
I am thinking about Carnegie Mellon for CS.
This is my information:
GPA: (weighted) my freshman yr was 3.9 and sophomore yr was 4.15, and my junior GPA is going to be higher cuz I have straight A’s rn except for AP Chem which I have A-.
Grades in all my classes are either going up or staying. For example, Honors bio was B- but Honors Chem was A- / history 9 was B but history 10 was A+.
Volunteer/outside of school:
volunteer at church, helping the disabled kids - 250 hrs
volunteer at Liberty Science Center - 150 hr
member of Midnight run - 40 hrs (monthly event)
volunteer at senior center, teaching computer to elderly - 40 hrs (just for this past summer but definitely coming back for the next summer)
Online courses (have 3 certifications in CS)
School activities:
treasurer/secretary of French Club
president of chem club (organizer of NJSL)
president of Liberty in North Korea
member of Interact club
Leader of the HS environmental club and NGSS chapter leader
won $1000 (grant) from my home county to install a water fountain at my school
intern at Columbia Univeristy’s research center (lamont-doherty) in NY (not the morningside campus)
won 3 awards from the national french contest (one was a platinum for perfect score, two for gold)
member of NJSL team
AP’s taken, currently taking and going to take:
Calc AB (taken)
Chem (taking)
Stat (taking)
Computer principle
computer programming (taking)
Physics 1
French
Calc BC
I have already taken Calc AB in school, and I am going to study for BC on my own.
SAT:
PSAT 1300
SAT 1500
SAT II French, Math 2 C (took and got 800 on the second try), Physics
I know my EC is more focused on CS and engineering but I feel like with my GPA and the test score, I have chance at Rutgers Medical School. What do you guys think? Thank you for reading this long post!
