So my D just got her rejection letter from Rutgers MG. :(

Anneliesesmom - ditto. Rejected mason gross.
Oh well. My D and I really didn’t like the fact that you cant train for singing or dancing there. The acting program is awesome, but the other bit had always nagged at us.

Sorry to hear dramamom0804. We were in the same boat last year and it would have been hard for my daughter as well to have given up the ability to train for singing and dancing. Good luck with rest.

Have all callbacks been received? I didn’t apply but my friend in the states is wondering if all emails were sent.

Yes, all callback emails went out on Friday, 2/14. I called Rutgers to make sure, and the admin. person told me to check the spam folder, and my daughter found her invitation there (a week late). Students have until 2/28 to RSVP.

Does anyone who’s kids are the Weekend know how many people were called back/are there now?

@josh703 I asked my S…I’ll let you know when he responds.

Thank you! I’m just kind of confused with this whole waitlist business. If they call back a much larger number than they accept, when it comes time to pull people from the waitlist wouldn’t they pick people who went to call backs? That would make sense to me. If they spend three days with people, they probably have a better sense of if they want them than spending five minutes.

I just don’t really know my chances of getting off of the waitlist and am kind of confused by the no callback straight to waitlist thing…

Josh703 – your thinking makes sense to me unfortunately. I would think mentally moving on is probably the right call. I don’t remember the numbers last year but it was quite a few more than they actually accept.

josh703, S said 40 BFA applicants, 20 MFA applicants. The classes will be half of that.

But, also, kids who get called back to Rutgers typically have lots of choices. I think you’d be right to move on, but it still could happen. If you look at last year’s threads, kids got in off wait lists to some very good programs.

Thanks Jkellynh17 – I did not mean to say that it could not happen. Just that the odds are particularly long the way Rutgers do it. At some schools like UNCSA, who does not extent out offers more than spots, getting wait listed has better odds as the minute the first person turns the school down they are moving to the wait list. I think there are at least 4-5 kids in this years class that were wait listed.

Josh703 - did you audition on campus? (I was wondering whether the callback weekend was focused on kids who auditioned off campus.)

I auditioned in NYC during Unifieds.

Huh. I am completely confused then…

Rutgers callback weekend has never had anything to do with whether or not you audition on campus
