Rutgers New Brunswick or Fordham?

GPA: 3.0 unweighted
SAT: 2210 (800 math, 730 cr, 680 w)

So I have really weird credentials, and applied to a lot of top 50 schools, however I'm most likely going to get rejected from all of them. I already got in to Fordham and Rutgers New Brunswick.

My question is, do you think Fordham is worth it for the money? My family qualifies for NO financial aid at all, so I'd be stuck paying ~55K a year for Fordham, whereas Rutgers would give me a scholarship making me only pay ~15K a year.

I would be going to either as a Political Science undergrad. Is Fordham worth the cost, or is it worth it just to go to Rutgers?

Rutgers is a commuter school in Jersey. Fordham is a private Jesuit school in the Bronx (10 minutes from Manhattan). It depends on what your plans are. Visit both if you haven’t and if money is an issue, definitely take that into account. I know some don’t like rankings but they have to be based off of something, right? Check those out and see how they stack up against each other.

PS- I’m from Long Island and Ive never heard of Brunswick…

There are obvious differences between the schools – a mid-size private Jesuit university in the Bronx (or Manhattan depending on which campus) versus a large state university in NJ. My S is having a great experience and getting an excellent education at Fordham but unfortunately money is part of the equation. You really have to talk with your parents and see what their limitations are in terms of what they can spend for your education. If you go to Rutgers, would they have the money to help you pay for grad school? Also, I don’t think all of the letters regarding scholarships at Fordham have gone out – I’m not sure what you need these days to get merit aid but you may want to see if you qualify for any money.
