Rutgers,NJ v/s USC,CA and Transfer Major @ USC

<p>My son got accepted in Rutgers,NJ with scholars admission and USC with Presidential scholarship in Arts and sceince major ( economics ). The final cost for Rutgers is 20k and USC is 40k. I am from NJ. I have following quesions.</p>

<p>1) Is it worth for me to spend extar 20k to send my son to Calfornia as we are from NJ?
2) He is now intrested in Elecrical Engineering. Is it possible to transfer major in USC? and if yes how much difficult it is?

My dilema is Arts and Science is no well recognised at USC and if for somehow if he won't be able to transfer to Viterbi Engineering school then it will be major cost as well. In Rutgers he can go to Engineering.</p>

<p>We are going NY tomorrow to attend USC's attended program.</p>

<p>Just to add - I am willing to take another 20k loan to make up 40k if it worth for him to go to USC.</p>

<p>Please help and advice your valuable suggestion.</p>

<p>Admission to his preferred major at half the cost seems a sensible and easy decision to me.</p>
