Rutgers parents orientation - is it worth going?

Hello I wanted to know is it worth it for my parents to go to the Rutgers parents orientation?
What is to be gained by going, or is it a waste of time?

Thanks!

Although my kids don’t attend Rutgers, I’ve attended the orientation sessions for both of my kids, and didn’t find either to be a waste of time.

It isn’t absolutely necessary to attend. All of the information is available online and they will have some sessions on move-in day that cover questions you might have. Still, it’s an opportunity to get ready and get your child ready for the next step. If you have the time and are excited about learning more, it’s not a bad way to start feeling like you really know all about the school. I attended.

Anyone else?

Thank you for the responses so far!

All depends on how involved the Parents are? If they are paying… they should be involved to understand everything. You also have access to many of the Deans so if they Parents have questions… there you are!

Parent, or Family Day is just 1 day, as compared to the 2 day Student NSO (New Student Orientation),

Personally, I always found them very helpful BUT I also like knowing/asking lots of questions.

At 33K estimated COA… I am interested!

I didn’t attend. To me, it sounded more like something for parents who were traveling with their kids from out of state to do while the kids had freshman orientation. Also, in my case I thought my son needed to go by himself because he needed to start to become more independent before starting college. I asked a lot of questions during the tours and don’t think I missed out by not going.

Thanks!

my husband and I just attended the Honors College parents orientation. We enjoyed our day. We happened to meet the parents of our daughter’s roommate. Received a lot of good information. Met the Dean. Heard about a lot of opportunities. Received good information about money. Learned about services and how the campus operates. We did not see our daughter the entire 2 days once we dropped her off, so if they do attend it won’t hamper your ability to be independent. My husband saw the school for the first time.

I don’t think you have to go, but it was something we wanted to do.

Are tuition bills up yet?
