What is the vibe about the different fraternities, like could you tell me the first thing that comes to mind when you hear each one? I'm pretty sure I want to rush, but I'd like a have a general idea about each one before I go into it.

Hmm...greek life....

I am contemplating on joining a sorority next semester. I'll tell you how I'm currently trying to decide on a certain one:

(1) Check the list of registered fraternities at rutgers on the getinvolved.rutgers.edu webpage
(2) Check the websites for each fraternity (or even a facebook group page) to get a better understanding on what the frat is about. With facebook, you could probably check to see if they have pictures posted up, especially group pictures. Or even join the group to ask questions.

NOW, when school starts

(3) Go to the involvement fair and check out the different fraternities that are stationed. Ask them questions.
(4) Throughout the semester they will have certain events where you can come and meet the brothers. Try to attend as many as you can to get a better understanding of the guys, and go to events hosted by different frats so you can compare and contrast.

I hope this can somewhat help, if that is what you were asking.

that definitely helps, i'm definitely going to take a look at the website. since it looks more and more likely that i'll wind up living in a hotel i probably will wind up rushing a frat that i already know people in. have you had any expereince with theta delta chi, alpha chi rho or sig ep? like what comes to mind, if anything when you hear those names?

does anyone know if the dorming applications have become available?

well, maybe one of ya'll can help me...

Is livingston really all that horrible?
if so, what's wrong with it? Don't most freshmen live there? If someone who lives there or has lived there could provide some insight, that would be amazingly amazing cause everybodys been telling me "don't live on livingston!" but nobody told me why..

main problem with livingston right now is that there is a heck lot of construction going on, and as far as i know nobody's really sure when it's gonna be finished. i think that it was supposed to be done by april, but right now the place looks really torn up and the mud is inescapable. we don't even have a student center, they're busy tearing it down / rebuilding / remodeling it - i'm not entirely sure what to make of all the metal struts going up around where the student center used to be.

other than that, popular opinion is that the dining hall here (tillet) is the absolute worst of anything anyone has ever tasted. virtually everybody i know agrees on that, barring this one person who somehow thinks that tillet food is the best of all five campuses O.o

there's also a bad rep still hanging around from before the colleges got integrated, but i haven't figured it out yet. i'm a freshman and every time i tell my upperclassmen friends that i like to randomly go out alone for midnight walks / runs when i can't sleep, their immediate reaction is 'in livinghood?? nooo, don't do that!!'

livingston is also the smallest of all five campuses, so there's a lot less people, and it's very quiet - this can be a plus or a minus depending on your preference. personally i like it :)

Yeah, the reputation Bunni was that Livingston College was for the kids with lower GPAs and SAT scores, while Rutgers College was for those with better scores/grades.

But, now that doesn't matter anymore since it's just the School of Arts and Science now.

ok so i'm a biology major, so i'm guessing all my classes or nearly all will be on either busch or livingston? (for chem) what do you guys think should be my 1st choice in housing?

live wherever you want right now. I honestly don't think it really matters until you advance into your major. all the campuses have a different feel to them. did you check out the posts on the different vibes of each campus? I think that would be helpful to you. also, have you visited campus yet?

since you're into the sciences, I would say busch I guess if you want to meet other people who are into that as well.

Where should one live if you want to take business courses? And how hard will it be to get all A's? What are some required courseS?

Hi I am planning on transferring to Rutgers NB my junior year (I'm a freshman).
My major is engineering. What campus are those classes at? You normally have one roomate, right? I'd really prefer not to have more then that. lol

Most engineering majors live on busch. Most upperclassmen on busch live in either apartments or suites. In these, you would typically have one roommate but other people who live in your apartment or suites (six people live in a suite, two people in each room).

Business school is housed on livingston. But most first-semster frosh take calc I and Intro to Micro. Then you would take macro, financial accounting, stats for business, and computer apps for business: Rutgers Business School : Eligibility Requirements

getting an A in calc and micro are pretty manageable I would say. But it's hard to say how easy it will be for you to get As since it depends on how much you work to get your grades. But the business school courses get progressively more difficult. it's a pretty rigid program.

Also, you'll soon learn that grades at Rutgers are very arbitrary. When naoise says that its easy to get an A in calc and micro, you could easily get a teacher that makes things very difficult for you. Check with upperclassman before you register for your classes and find the easiest/best teacher.

hey
this is a random question
but does anyone know if there is an all girls floor in brett hall?

Housing info just came out. I am on College Ave second floor of Brett. Anyone else?

i don’t think there is an all-girls floor in brett hall. actually, i don’t think there is an all-girl’s floor in any rutgers dorm (correct me if i’m wrong) except in davidson on busch where there’s an all-girls wing. the first floor bathroom is actually co-ed though it says you know, ‘women’ on the door. i went in there without knowing, and there was some dude standing at the sink sooo we just kind of stared at each other for like ten seconds, kinda like, what are youuu doing in here? before he said that it was co-ed. awkward.

anyway, so, no.

nope, no all-girls floor in brett. that would suck.
