I applied to Rutgers Summer Scholars Program for high school students. I actually got in, and got a 20% off scholarship! I was wondering if this meant that I had a good chance of getting into Rutgers NB SAS?
The programs aren’t exactly related. If you have scores sufficient to take classes, you are in decent shape. Rutgers admissions will look at your high school transcript and your entire application. For the summer program, they are only looking at your academic level in order to take classes. You aren’t really competing with thousands of other applicants like you do during the admissions process in the fall, only showing your level in order to take classes. The grades from your summer class(es) will count toward your Rutgers GPA, so do your best. You will probably have to request an internal transfer of the Rutgers transcript to admissions (that’s free, while sending it elsewhere starts to add up).
My younger son participated in the Summer Scholars Program starting at the age of 10. He took classes most summers and some during the semesters, too. He skipped middle school, graduated high school at 16, and is now a sophomore at Rutgers. The credits he got combined with his AP credits put him at senior status at this point (but in no rush to graduate).
