Rutgers Transfer FALL 2009 Anyone waiting for acceptance with me?

My status was just updated again tonight 04/03, but still "in process" ... Is that a good sign???

my status was last update 3/12. and still "in process"

Could it be Rutgers updating the admission dates as they receive a decision from each school? confused

How many times would admissions updated the status before the rejecting someone?

lol kookie be positive, you should ask how many times would admissions updated the status before they ACCEPT someone?

I bet next week we'll find out

RU Ready

wait until you get the letter in the mail, the website is unreliable...

LOL. kookie1, I too have been trying to figure out the Rutgers rejection and admission pattern, but I just cant seem to arrive at a point because random and unexpected rejections like that of RU-READY baffles me. My status screen has updated three times(Last time on the 31st), so I called RU-INFO on two occasions to see if the updates hinted at something. On one occasion, a representative told me that the updates are periodical and doesn't really mean that your application was looked at. But on another recent occasion, a rep. told me not to take the updates as a bad sign because now that April 15th is near, Rutgers would be eager to send/post decisions to all of those who applied before Jan. 15 and were not admitted. So, now I just like whatever because I don't know what to take from any of this. lol

I just hope for the best.

LOL @magent311. your right!

You guys are right. I'll think positive... Or at least TRY... lol
Before I read RU-Ready's post I almost guaranteed that I was going to be accepted, but after her rejection post, I got all worried and confused.

NJDtermined,
I was just thinking to call RU INFO and ask what does updating the status mean, hoping to hear that it's a good sign, but you just answered my question. Thanks.

I hope we all get in!

I checked mine and got accepted to all three schools. Don't know why it couldn't have happend a year ago. sigh. At least I got in this time. ( :

Congrats sophiee!!

I know what you mean about not getting accepted before. It was a bittersweet feeling for me when I got accepted this year because I was rejected by rutgers two years straight.

Hey all ...I received my official rejection letter today. Small envelope. Contents, 2 letters on letterhead. Letter 1 says I was rejected and Letter 2 gives reason. Letter 2 Reads:

"It was not possible to admit you for the September 2009 semester. The competition for admission depends on the number of spaces available and the number of applications we received for each school, college, or program. In our review process, the greatest emphasis is placed on the student's preparedness to continue degree study at Rutgers as exhibited primarily through college performance, including grade point average and number of academic, college-level courses completed. From among all students who apply, those who present the strongest combination of these factors may be admitted. For our professional schools, competitive performance in prerequisite course work is also a significant factor."

They then went on to suggest that i apply when i "strengthen your academic credentials by completing additional academic course work".

I am truly baffled. I am graduating with my associates from RVCC. To date i have received ALL A's and 1 stinking B+. I have 4 more classes this semester (World Civ II, Geology, Statistics and Number Systems) and I am officially done. I Short receiving all A's and a 4.0 I could not have done any better. Moreover, as someone stated earlier, even if i continue to acquire all A's my GPA will only move increase by small increments.

Kookie -----They reviewed my file 3 times before i was rejected. However, the last time they did not review my file for almost 1 month. If you're status still states in Process then you still have a great chance of getting in as it seems the pool around you is dwindling down.

Sorry if i worried you or anyone else by posting my rejection notification.

Although I am "SHOCKED" i wasnt accepted I wont start worrying until AFTER i speak with the admissions counselor on Monday. Hopefully this is a mistake which will be rectified when my file is actually viewed properly.

Will let everyone know how that goes and post any pertinent information when i'm done.

Oh, I also spoke to Ms. Burnett at the Admissions office who informed me that she does not actually review the files for admission and, as such, was not familiar with the criteria the counselors use to make their decisions. She also forwarded my information to the admissions counselors for review.

Interesting thing though......she said there were "PLENTY" of "Y-rejection" requests already ahead of mine. Seems like they've been narrowing the pool for quite some time already.

Congrats sophiee!!

Hey herothydragon,

if you don't mind my asking, why exactly did Rutgers reject you those two times. is it because you didn't have enough credits? grades weren't all that good? Oh, and do you remember around what time of you received your decisions those two times (i.e. did Rutgers make you wait a little before April 15th?)?

Thanks

RU-READY,

I really, really, REALLY cannot believe this has happened to you. Evidently Rutgers has made a HUGE mistake if this rejection is intentional. you seem like an dedicated student and awesome person. I just do get it!!

Hopefully, when you do speak to the admissions counselor, he/she clears everything up.

Best wishes to you!!!

RUR, this has to be a mistake on their part. I would probably say with your grades, Rutgers is probably a little below your level. There's no way they rejected you based on merit. No way.

I've completely avoided posting on this thread for all obvious reasons - watching people with GPAs lower and higher than mine get accepted and rejected is completely nervewrecking. However, April 15 is coming rather quickly and I'm still awaiting my decision. 3.67 - a B in a public speaking class destroyed my first semester, second-semester freshman, 19 credits this semester - plus, an internship @ a major lobbying firm in Trenton, over 20 hours of community service, honors program and honors classes, NOT at a community college (small, private women's college). RU has had everything since February 9, my status page has been updated twice since then (3/27, 3/30) but it still says "In Process."

RU-READY, did you have extra-currics, aside from honors and such? That's such an upsetting rejection, even for me! Did you apply anywhere else, or were you just counting on admission to RU?

RU, by any chance are you a girl looking to major in elementary education? I think there is a lot of competition for these slots, and they just may have run out of room. I am so sorry for you, and I hope that things work out, and you are happy wherever you find yourself next year.

RU-READY, this has happened to CCers before and their admittances to Rutgers do get reversed. You are doing the right thing by not worrying cuz that gets u no where.

magnent311, my stats are virtually identical to RU-READY, and I do not believe Rutgers is below my level at all. I'm sure RU-READY don't believe so too because of his situation...

NJDetermined, I was rejected the first time because of my horrendous high school grades. The second time I was rejected was for the same reason because I applied one year after high school. When I applied the 3rd time, rutgers based their decisions solely on my college record (e.i. 3.96 with 66 credits, and 83 credits after this semester) since it has been 2 years since high school. I never had to wait too long for a decision, especially not past April 15.

Realistically, Rutgers is the 64th college/university in the nation. No, that's not Ivy but that is pretty good. It's underestimated if you live in-state when it really shouldn't be.

I was admitted last year, as a senior in high school. I'm hoping they'll re-admit me this year, now that I really want to be there and messed up terribly by picking my current school.
