Okay so here's the deal. I'm currently attending a community college in the state of New Jersey. I will graduate May 2011 with an associates degree on liberal arts general. I really want to continue my education at Rutgers University and since I have been attending a community college for the past two years, I want to live on campus, so I can get "the college experience" at least for the last two-possibly three years that I have remaining. So, my question is: What are some good Suites/Apartments that I can live in? Also, what are possibilities for a trasfer student to get first choice? Or is there a specific place trasnfers are placed for housing?

Thanks in advanced.

Transfers are kind of placed all over. I had a roommate last semester who was a transfer since my other roommate left to go abroad. Even though she was a transfer she wasn’t put with other transfers. But usually they are placed in one of the river dorms on College Avenue, like Campbell Hall, Hardenbergh Hall (where I lived). I heard that some transfers are put in New Gibbons on Douglass campus as well. I’m pretty sure they place you wherever there is vacancy now.

Suites/Apartments? Well, in terms of suites, I believe Busch is the only campus that currently have suites. The popular apartments are Rockoff Hall and Easton Ave Apartments.

Yeah, at this point it’s kinda where ever they can find the room I think. I’m a transfer this semester and I was placed in Wessels on CAC. I, incidentally, did get my first choice campus. I can’t see it being easy to get into a suite or apartment, but if you really want to be in one, you should pick Busch as your first choice.

Thanks so much. @ MushboomBlue, I herd a lot of Rockoff. I would love to live there!
@ Beast Morgan, how is your college experience so far?

I knew a bunch of transfers last year who were placed in Rockoff & New Gibbons

Rockoff has a decent amount of transfers. It has decreased in popularity recently (last lottery it was the last apartment building to fill up) so I don’t think it would be too hard to get a spot there as a transfer.

Thanks Backtothestars, I hope so, for I really want to live there now.

Does anyone know if a transfer student can live with someone that they know who already goes to Rutgers?

I talked to Rutgers housing and what they told me is that I can’t live with someone that already goes to Rutgers initially, but after the first two weeks of classes I can apply for a room swap.
