" Rutgers Transfer and Undergrad 2018 Group "
Hey guys, Does anyone know if there’s a transfer group for the fall 2018 transfer class on Facebook? If not is anyone willing to make one?? I saw one on fb but it’s inactive
I’m an engineering student so I couldn’t get into the SAS transfer group haha
Anybody apply as a transfer for the Fall semester recently? I applied today as their Fall application is still open and if admitted I’d be attending.
If anyone is curious, the deadline to apply for the Fall of 2018 is still open, or at least was less than a week ago when I applied. I’m a rising sophomore with a 3.92 gpa at an LAC in PA. Good EC’s, many A+'s in classes. Currently have 39 credits completed. I was posting in hopes of someone reading this thread and getting an idea of where they stand if they applied relatively late like myself. I will be posting my decision here as well. Applied for SAS as an economics major, Business School as a Finance major, and School of Engineering as a civil engineering major. My hopes are if I am accepted (all NB btw) that I will transfer into the school of engineering (school-to-school once I take the required pre-req’s). Also, did not send in SAT/ACT and did write the recommended essay. GL to any future applicants reading this!
@stecy Hey. I applied at the end of May, and I heard back early June. I was accepted to SAS as an Econ major and SEBS as an Econ major… I did not get into the Business school (Finance) because I was told there was no more room.
They’re giving me more time to make a decision (until I get my credit evaluation)… most likely committing to SEBS and hopefully will internally transfer to the Business school after my first semester.
(I will be entering as a Junior)
That’s awesome @aznboi4981 congrats! Thanks for the reply as well. Still waiting on hearing back myself–been about two weeks and they’ve been updating my portal about every other day which is great. All materials are in now.
I didn’t realize that SEBS had an economics major as well; that’s great to know.
Was curious, are you transferring from an NJ CC, and are you commuting or living on/off campus? I’m a bit worried that I may not be able to find housing being that I’m relatively late in applying, but they are still accepting applications as of today so hopefully there is still enough room for on-campus residencies.
Sounds like you would have been admitted to the Business School if there was room. My friend who is a current rising sophomore mentioned the business program isn’t necessarily difficult to be admitted to–it’s really the Nursing program, Engineering program, and Pharmacy program (which he is in) that are the most competitive, so that’s good news.
Again, congrats on the acceptances and I hope to hear back!
@stecy Thank you!! Yes, SEBS has an Econ major, which you could choose to specialize in either Environmental or Business Economics. I will be completing the Business Econ path if I am unable to transfer into the School of Business.
I am transferring from another 4-year public school in NJ. And I really need to decide for sure if I will be living on or off campus in an apartment. I will decide once I find out my credit evaluation.
I wish you the best of luck!! Hopefully I will see you in the fall, haha!
No problem, and wow I didn’t realize haha. That’s a good idea, do you have an idea of what you want to do in the future?
Yeah I’ll most likely be on campus–was accepted to school of Arts and Sciences today! Business school still pending but I’m not expecting to get in since you mentioned that the school was full.
Glad it’s worked out for both of us so far, but still one more transfer application to go haha. Thanks, and I wish you the best of luck as well! Maybe I will somehow see you in the Fall haha
@stecy Congrats!! What’s the other school?
Thanks, I appreciate it! I don’t think I was clear in what I wrote. When I said “one more transfer application to go” I meant we both still have to apply internally, you to business school and me to engineering. Rutgers was my only transfer app haha
@aznboi4981 sorry, I forgot to tag you. Going to visit Rutgers today for a while and get a better feel for the school. Talk soon
@stecy Let me know what you thought of it!
Surely. It was an unofficial visit with my parents. Obvious, but the campus is huge relative to the LAC I attended Fresh year, and probably to most universities/colleges. Most of the buildings were closed but it seemed like somewhere I could personally get used to. We walked around New Brunswick for a while which was nice–a lot of diversity in the city which was also something I’m looking for–my LAC was pretty homogenous.
I’m guessing you’ll be looking to live on or near Cook for SEBS. I’d give my opinion but I wasn’t able to see any of the campus. I’ve heard good reviews though from alumni. I mostly saw Busch which is my top choice for housing–engineering, SAS science students, etc and Livingston. Some of the Livingston dorms to me seemed a bit isolated from everything but that could have been because there weren’t many people on campus and me comparing it to my very small and tightly-packed LAC. I don’t think that’s something to worry about though because it’s mostly a freshman campus and I chose Livingston as my fourth choice for housing.
I wasn’t able to speak to anyone because all of the buildings were closed but it seemed, again, where somewhere I could become accustomed to. There are a few parks around the Livingston/Busch campus that seemed like solid places to hang out with friends, relax, run, etc… Sorry this wasn’t much of a comprehensive overview but Rutgers seems to have its pros and cons like any school.
I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty excited to begin this Fall. There are so many more courses to choose from compared to my LAC, it’ll be pretty cool to go to some football games and maybe basketball/baseball and there are so many clubs I’d like to join, one being Engineers Without Borders which I wrote about in my app. I’m a bit anxious though to receive my credit evaluation because I have many plans for the next three years–majoring in mechanical, electrical, or civil/environmental engineering in the SOE (If I get in) and Economics (and math double major if not accepted to SOE) in the SAS, and I don’t want this previous year to have been somewhat of a waste, at least credits-wise, but I think it should work out fairly well. There are always summer courses to catch up though.
Have you heard back in regard to your evaluation? Kind of curious to see how flexible they are with transfer credits. Also, have you visited at all?
@stecy Sounds like you liked it! Very good. I visited my friends there a few times. The bus thing is very overwhelming to be honest lol.
I got my credit evaluation on Monday. They requested a bunch of my class syllabi, so I had to submit those.
I’m kind of shocked since a lot of kids from my
school transfer to Rutgers. Oh well haha - we’ll see.
Hey guys. I want to transfer for the fall and I need some advice just because I am super worried. I was admitted for spring 2018, but due to some crazy circumstances out of my control, my GPA for the fall was a complete distaster and my admission was revoked. I took more classes at my cc for the spring but got one D, while the rest of the grades were 2 A’s and a B+; my situation still remained crazy. I was worried that it wouldn’t be enough for a reconsideration. So I took one more class at my CC and another difficult one at Rutgers. That’s 6 summer credits and 14 from the spring. I did well in both summer courses and am taking one more at Rutgers. I refresh the open schools page everyday and I am so nervous about it closing. My other Rutgers class ends on August 2nd. I called admissions and they said the more credits the better. I believe my situation is compelling but I feel like they will probably not be sympathetic since it’s a big state school. Should I wait until August 2nd or just do the reconsideration now? Is 9 credits + the 14 not enough? I am so nervous and for various reasons I can’t really go back to my CC. Thanks for reading this if you did.
Is there any way you could try to find out an approximation date as to when fall applications will be closing?
I’d probably apply to Rutgers Newark and/or Camden along with whichever school(s) you’re seeking to be admitted to at New Brunswick, I assume. If you’re not accepted to Rutgers NB, you will at least have a better shot at Newark and Camden and can later apply to internally transfer to NB at some point. If I were you and I couldn’t go back to my CC, whatever the reason may be, I’d make sure to have a backup school(s) in the case that I wasn’t admitted to NB.
Personally, I’d apply sooner rather than later. Unless you really believe that course you’re taking at the moment will have that large of an impact on your admission, then wait, but make sure you don’t wait too long. @rutgerstransfer1998
@aznboi4981 I agree, I’ve heard that from manyyyy of my friends currently at Ru. Let me know how your credit eval turns out too!
Hey folks, I’m an international student currently studied in CC in California. I’m about to submit my application to RUNB. My currently Gap is around 3.35(not including summer) Is there any change I can get in? I know it’s very late to submit my application. I’m here to looking for some hint about the application. Is there anyone who is in the same situation?
@CCTCAM Your gpa seems fine for most programs. Engineering, Nursing and Pharmacy might be a bit tougher.
I would make sure you write the recommended essay and be clear about why you want to transfer to Rutgers. I don’t think there are many hints in regard to gaining acceptance, just be honest about your situation and why you’re interested in Rutgers… Good luck!
Thanks!!!
