My son got into most of the schools he applied to, the top 5(in his opinion) were:
U Conn Engg - no honors
Rutgers NB Engg Honors and Rutgers Business Honor’s College
university of Delaware- Engg
Binghamton -engg
Stony Brook -Engg
Others
Quinnipiac Honor’s Engg
Fairfield Honor’s Engg
Marist
And a couple of safe schools.
We are waiting on Lehigh.
His top choice is U conn. He loved the campus and visited it a few times. Rutgers is a great strong school but he hated the layout of the mini campuses but he got into the honors program. Those are his top 2 choices and both about 2 hours from home.
We are looking for opinions on what everyone thinks about the top 5 schools. Interestingly, cost is about the same. He is a NY state resident and the OOS schools gave him merit that brings their tuition down to instate costs.
The Honors College is impressive. You should definitely take a tour before making a decision. RUTGERS built a new engineering facility. Its proximity to major companies offer a wealth of opportunities. RUTGERS is diverse UConn lacks diversity
@privatebanker he is leaning towards U Conn right now. We visited both campuses and U Conn feels right so far.
@totcol we are scheduled for the honors visit at Rutgers this Friday. I’m letting him take another crack at liking the campus. In terms of diversity, I thought U Conn was a good balance.
I have a friend whose son is in Rutgers engineering. He doesn’t have to move around to the different campuses much. That may depend on major. Maybe you can ask about that when you’re there.
@HSinLI I’m not sure; they said he lives on the “engineering campus”. His girlfriend is also an engineering major but lives on a different and she said the busses aren’t problem to deal with.
