Basically it comes down to money. I'm a NJ resident, so ~23k for Rutgers and ~38k for W&M. I think we're lucky enough to be able to pay for both without many problems, but is it worth it? I'd be doing Business (Marketing) at both. I'm strongly leaning towards William and Mary; I'm just trying to make sure I think things through.

60k over four years is a lot of money, but if it is not a huge problem then I’d say W&M would be worth it. It has a good undergrad program in the Mason school of B, and a brand new building coming online for the Fall semester that is the envy of every other department (except religious Studies, which is based in Wren).

In our household $60K would be a huge impediment, but if that’s do-able then the answer is yes, William & Mary. These are two very dissimilar institutions. W&M is a public school that is basically like a highly-selective, small to moderate-sized private in all ways other than funding sources. This choice would be roughly the equivalent of choosing between the U. of Maryland and Vanderbilt. I’d pay extra for Vandy in that pairing, and I’d pay extra for W&M in this one.

Also, consider where you want to work after graduation. Rutgers places a lot of b-school grads in NYC, I’m not sure about W&M placements.

You didn’t get any money from Rutgers? I’m surprised that you got into W&M but didn’t get money from Rutgers (my son got 2500 from Rutgers B school , but wait listed at W&M)
