Sad, sad SAT scores

I had the second highest score at my high school, and was proud of my score until the day i joined college confidential, cc is really a humbling experience.

Someone at my school got a 1250 on the New SAT- he was jumping up and down with excitement until he found out it was out of 2400.

same with my friend. she got around a 1200-something, although her excuse was she was 8-months pregnant and still supposed to be on bedrest the day of the test.

i thought it was an interesting explanation...

LMAO omg my stomache hurts

i hate how they changed the scoring. now i don't know whats good and bad. you could say you got 1600 and i'd be like WOW, but really thats probably bad on the new sat :(

I know someone who got a 760 on the old SAT.

Ouch. Which section?

OH yeah, I know this girl who got a 900 on the SAT. But that's when she took it in 8th grade so she's "excused" I suppose.

Hey :( Is my SAT score of 1830 as a freshman okay or not? lol I don't know how well I should have done.

fevoldj2: Relax. You scored higher than many seniors in the United States. You have plenty of time to improve.

oO Are you serious?

Haha very serious.

I know this isn't the thread for this, but do colleges frown upon taking the SAT too much? Like if I were to take it for each of my high school years.

No, they take your highest score. You are not penalized for multiple tests.

Actually many colleges say that taking it more than twice looks bad.

Anyway, I got a 1080 (out of 1600) but that was when I took it in 7th grade. Hey I improved to a 2210!

uhh.. hate to break it to everyone but a low sat score doesn't mean anything. period. I don't see how a low score is funny-- I guess it's a fairly touchy subject with me because I have a learning disabled brother who struggles with school and he get's fairly low grades even with hours of studying. I never found anything funny about it. A number never did and never will classify someone as "smart" or "dumb".

Well, heck everyone i guess SAT scores really don't measure anything, hmm...wait...if that is the case i wonder WHY ON EARTH would EVERY decent college in America use it as one of the MOST important aspects of evaluating their applicants?

Maybe you all did not finish. blinks

uvajoe...thats the most naive thing you can say...how about STANDARDIZATION.......to make everyone on one playing field. They dont look at it like smart or dumb, they look at it like above, at, or below average. SAT doesnt measure anything. Period. (God i hate arrogant, naive, overachieving, suicidal CCers)

Why do you guys frown upon the SAT? It's suppose to be an aptitude test...It DOES meansure your capability to think and learn up to a certain point..

There are plenty of kids out there who do extremely well in school because they have a great memory, but I can 110% assure you that they will not get over a 1800 on the new SAT. Why? Because they don't have any logic, don't have ANY imagination, and doesn't do any extracurricular reading.

Dont try to correct me on this, because I GO TO SCHOOL WITH THESE KIDS!! THEY MAKE 10-PAGE REVIEW SHEETS FOR 10 MINUTE QUIZzES!!! THEY EVEN WALK INTO TREES FOR GODS SAKES
