<p>It might be for US citizen, but certainly not for us. My friend got his acceptance letter from Dartmouth a week ago. He had mentioned an annual assured support of $3,000-4,000. But according to the financial aid package, he needs to contribute $10,000 to the costs annually.</p>
<p>Due to the financial crisis, many universities and colleges are have turned from need-blind to need-based.</p>

<p>Dartmouth is need blind. And btw, meeting 100% need/need-blind is really different from “providing all the money that the student’s family wants”. </p>
<p>I was accepted to a “meet 100% need” (though not need-blind). Family income maybe 70k, stated contribution 10k, out-of-pocket contribution on FA package is 20k.</p>
