hey guys! what are the colleges that you’d consider safety colleges? i’m an international student from nepal applying for the class of 2020. I dont wanna hassle during the last minute so have been during college research and in case i dont get into one of my dream colleges, i need to prepare for the worst so please be kind enough to tell me what colleges do average/ a bit more than average students have guaranteed acceptances to? an by safety colleges, i mean ‘top safety colleges’
Do you need financial aid? Or full paying?
If you need financial help, look at University of Alabama.
almost full financial aid
For an international student needing full financial aid there is no safety school.
There are no safeties. Do look at Liberal Art Colleges other than Amherst, Williams and Swarthmore.
How much can you pay per year??
Safety colleges for internationals are those that offer automatic scholarships that make the college affordable: Truman State, UAlabama, Howard… plus universities that are affordable without scholarships (sometimes, it’s the case at South Dakota School of Mines, UMN-Morris, U Maine Farmington, Delta State…)
Among those that offer merit scholarship, I would suggest U of Alabama, or UAH.
Both are Alabama state school, and UA is ranked significantly higher but UAH is somewhat better in engineering…UA engineering is pretty good, too.
I can’t say for others, since I am not really an expert in a wide range of schools.
@paul2752 @MYOS1634 would you guys mind linking me the official school page that talks about the international scholarships for both U of Alabama and UAH? I cant seem to find it
There isn’t a separate scholarship page for international students in these two schools. ALL undergraduate applicants are assessed for same scholarships.

http://www.uah.edu/admissions/undergraduate/financial-aid/scholarships
Remember, scholarships are NOT automatic. They require simple application that has an essay.
Also for Truman State, automatic scholarhips is just 5k at max.
Here is a link for competitive scholarships at Truman State

Do you mean that scholarship in those universities are given solely on the basis of an essay but not academic records and standardized scores?
Isn’t Williams and Amherst one of the most generous LACs giving aid to international students?
Do you realize that you are way too late for that question?
Nope. I’m still a high-school junior. just being prudent enough to research early
Oh…I assumed you were senior til I re rrad the post.
Yes botb are top Lac with generous FA, but they are TOP lac. Amherst ks need blins bu5 Willimas is not, I believe
