Safety/equivalent schools for NU engineering

Calling all northwestern engineering applicants- what other schools are you applying to as safety or equal caliber schools? I don't need to hear MIT and Stanford etc, I already know they're great. I am interested in the other schools you are interested in that you consider to be on or about on par with NU.

Cornell; Carnegie Mellon; Vanderbilt; Duke; Penn; Harvard; Michigan; Wisconsin; Harvey Mudd; Yale; Lehigh (safe by comparison)

My son used Purdue and Rose Hulman as safties last year. Rose Hulman has had the #1 ranked engineering for a non doctorate school for years and Purdue is ranked higher than NU overall in the engineering field. He is a freshman now at McCormick which was his first choice, but was admitted to the other two as well. NU has much more going for it, but the engineering programs at these others is on par with NU's.

^how's his experience been so far?

So far he just loves it. It's everything he thought it would be. He says it is a lot of hard work but wouldn't trade it for anything. They're coming up on finals in a couple of weeks. A little aprehension there I think.

thanks... to other people, where else are you applying?

bump______________

I second Purdue and Rose. You could also apply to UIUC.
