i want to study international/relations or economics or business related programs. so far i'm applying to

vassar college (bit of a reach)
university of scranton (safety)
suny at new paltz (safety i don't really want)

i'm looking for maybe two about two safeties and reach. the school has to be within 4 hours nyc but not any schools in nyc. i am also looking for schools that i can get merit money at.that is pretty much my only criteria.

i'm thinking about applying to brown or providence college. if anyone has any insight on either school it would be appreciated.

What is your ethnicity and what leadership positions have you held? Your grades and test scores are quite disparate. Knowing this info can help us help you.

i thought i listed that stuff...i'm hispanic. section leader in both bands (concert and marching), cofounder of the spanish club, member of key club and math team.

habdragon:: thats what my guidance counselor keeps telling me...what does URM mean?

are there any other schools anyone could recommend? also, can someone give me info on brown university and providence college.

i'm looking for a school that doesnt have too big of a frat/sorority scene, not too religious (that might take out providence), and has strong academics.

I have heard only a couple of tidbits about Providence. They seem to have quite a number of "formals/socials". Student body is mostly Catholic. If you do not show up for class someone will notice and you will get a phone call. I do not know how many absences that takes. I know nothing about the religious or greek aspects.

Vassar is a good choice for you, and they give money. Your SATs are a little low, but other than that, you are a great candidate. I think that you will be admitted. Why SUNY New Paltz, as opposed to another SUNY? Why not Binghamton? You could look at Catholic University and American University in Washington, DC as match/safeties. You could look at Boston University, Northeastern, and Boston College. You could try Notre Dame, if you can handle the location. I agree with Habdragon08, that you can aim higher.
