I'm going to be a senior this upcoming year and I've started considering colleges. Let me start by giving my credentials.

GPA: 4.0 unweighted, 4.6 weighted
Thus far, I've taken 5 AP classes(Chem, Calc, Language and Composition, U.S. History, and European History) and plan on taking Literature and Composition, Comparative Politics, and U.S. Gov. senior year. Along with this, I'm taking math and science (physics) at the university in my town senior year.
Honors Classes-5(Geometry, Speech, Humanities I and II, and Chemistry)
Class Rank: 1
ACT: 32, Superscored:33 (Math-33, English-34)
Writing-12
Extra Curriculars- Math Team, Committee Chair in National Honor Society, French Club, WYSE, Volunteer Work at the Local Library, Scholastic Bowl, and I do technology projects within the community to promote and teach children and adults about technology in general.

I live in the Midwest and would prefer to go to a college in the Midwest. How realistic are schools like the University of Chicago and Washington University in St Louis? What other schools fit my stats assuming all colleges in the Midwest are on the table? I'm looking into fields involving math and science.

Your stats are good, though you should really plan for a strong senior year if you want a decent chance at schools such as University of Chicago or Washington University in St. Louis. What are your passions? Really try to distinguish yourself and show that you are unique. Also, make sure you have some leadership positions.

If you are limiting your school selection to options in the Midwest, here are some good options:

Reach: University of Chicago, Northwestern, Washington University in St. Louis, Carleton
Match: Case Western, Grinnell, Macalester, Oberlin, Kenyon, Centre, Dennison
Safeties: Your instate public university

Do you need financial aid? This could also affect what your safeties are. What is your instate flagship? What do you intend on majoring in, and what career interests do you have?

Yes, definitely apply. You have nothing to lose, anyway. If you really do well senior year, you should have a good shot. No one is going to be guaranteed entrance to your reach schools, and no one on this forum can confirm that you will get in. However, your stats give you a pretty good chance. Really stand out your senior year and your chance will be even higher. Essays and teacher recommendations are important, and make sure the college admission officers can get a good gist of who you are through them.
