<p>I have a 3.05UW/3.29W gpa(upward trend, from 2.6 freshmen year to 4.2 junior year) and a 1750 SAT (500M, 610CR, 640CR). I'm planning on retaking and aiming for an 1850+.</p>
<p>With my gpa I can't really find a good safety school. Any out of state/private colleges with good FA would be good, or even any in state (Virginia). </p>
<p>I want to major/minor in either Arabic or middle eastern studies so that really narrows down the colleges.</p>
<p>Any help would be great!</p>
<p>In VA with your stats, I don’t know where you find Arabic or ME Studies. The field itself is kinda new outside of the ivies. What have you found in the way of matches, OP?</p>
<p>Hood College in Frederick, MD is one possible academic safety. UArizona, UAkron, Portland State are others.</p>
<p>Old Dominion University has a middle eastern minor and Arabic courses, but their website is really confusing because the middle eastern minor wasn’t listed on the minor page but it was listed in their catalog. I will email to double check. But so far that’s my only safety. Hood’s website is also confusing because it’s not updated, and when I checked their GPA average it was around a 3.5. </p>

<p>A few you could maybe look at: Rutgers University - New Brunswick, University of Toledo, University of Cincinnati</p>
<p>BYU Hawaii is great! Plus the school has really low tuition. I hope that isn’t too far for you since it’s on the other side of the country and stuff. :-* </p>
<p>A safety has to be affordable. Safeties don’t give much FA. </p>
<p>Much will depend on how much your family will pay. </p>
<p>Ranza: Rutgers would be a high match/low reach because of my GPA. And I think Cincinnati would be the same. But Toledo looks like a really good safety! I will research more about it.</p>
<p>Freail: That’s a great suggestion but they don’t have Arabic. Studying in Hawaii would’ve been pretty cool though!</p>
