<p>Is Stockton a safe area? I have heard a lot about gangs and high crime rates around there. I am considering applying there, but I don't want to apply if it is unsafe. UOP sounds like a great school, but the safety of the surrounding area is really important to me! Thanks! </p>
<p>Stockton is not presently a nice town but,the area around UOP is generally safe. Walk the campus at night and see how it feels.</p>
<p>I think you’ll find it tough to find a crime free environment - OK, maybe Moraga around St Mary’s or Malibu near Pepperdine. Both of those are still a short drive from really rough areas. </p>
