Salaries for IR

Hi eveyone

Just wanted to ask how the career path is for someone interested in politics/IR. What is the best field and highest salary? How long does it take to reach the top? I really want to go to a great undergrad school and grad school so I want to know my return rate after I graduate. Thanks

Investment banking or consulting - really well paid.

She's talking about politics not business.

If you aren't interested in business, consulting still applies. There are plenty of government contractors and consulting firms that are deeply involved in public policy and IR. I believe those are very lucrative.

lobbyists make a killing.

yeah Jack Abramoff was raking it in. Actually, lobbyist is a fairly loose term.

I'd think 60-100k entry level positions. That is after a MA from a respectable school, e.g. SAIS, SIPA, SFS...

Well, lobbying and consulting are one thing but I would say the great majority of IR positions are NOT well paid, especially at the entry level. Other types of jobs (think tanks, international organizations, etc.) can pay nicely but you sometimes need a Ph.D and definitely need years of experience.
