Salary Help

Hi I'm doing the interview rounds for my first job as a current college student, and I was wondering how much I should be asking for for entry level positions?

The ads I'm applying to are offering anywhere between 8 and 15 dollars an hour. What's a good wage for a part-time entry-level college job? (Not assistant work, but entry level marketing/PR/advertising?)

Thanks!

6 figures.

$10-12 sounds good for a start in training, that's what I've seen so far.

Shoot for the best. Convince them why you should get $15 instead of $8.

12 an hour. pr/marketing/advertising only pay big bucks when you're at the top of your field.

12 an hour is average starting for no experience in a career environment location that don't require you to have any specific skills.

$12/hr is about as much as you can hope for and certainly more than most students make. $15 would be pretty damn lucky, especially in this economy. I made $10/hr at my paid marketing/advertising internship during 4th yr and that was before everything hit the fan, and most of my friends were jealous that I was even getting that much.

And indeed, re:marketing/advertising/pr offering low pay until you're at the top. This is mostly why I got out of the industry after only 10 months. I was essentially making around $16.50/hr when it was all said and done, WITH my degree; and that was the best of 4 offers I had.

^ so what are you doing now allie?
