I know most schools have averages, but i'm just wondering what a good starting salary would be. What are some good places to work for?

Some of the large national consumer goods companies like P&G and Kraft are considered good starting points as they do lots of marketing at a high level.. A good salary would be 45-50K

Yeah, we've learned and talked about P and G alot. They certainly have a 'different' approach to marketing, but they seem like a good company.

i'd say 40-50k sounds about right

When I was in school they were considered the best training ground for brand mgt but that was years ago and things often change. Of course you have the big ad agencies and specialists like AC Nielsen (UW alum!). I know Nielsen hires every year. It's a steady business compared to ad agencies which can be feast and famine if they lose a big account.

The average starting at where I'll hopefully be going is ~$38K. That will increase if I get an MBA and do will during UG and Grad si?

I don't see why not.

Does ACN recruit at more schools? Their schedule only shows a few, which includes St. Joes which is a joke. Tell me they recruit at more :D

You must be at Nova;-) I saw that list too and would assume more but I don't know personally.

haha no. I'm a senior in HS. I take a college class in marketing locally though. I'm going OOS for college.

P&G's a great training ground for Brand (since it is considered the founding company of Brand Management). The "different approach" is one that works. It's also America's top spender in advertising, outpacing GM. Your catch is you will have to work in the midwest in Cincy.

The top firms are P&G, J&J, General Mills, and Nestle. ConAgra Foods and Kraft rank right up there as well when it comes to traditional consumer goods companies.

oh crap, i forgot about that. I have friends in Blue Ash right outside Cincy. I really hate Ohio and have heard that it's a horrible place to live. I'd have to pass on living there, even though P&G is a great place to work for. J&J...NB, NJ? Pass.
General Mills? Minneapolis would be interesting. I'd consider that. ConAgra in Omaha? Passssssssss. :P
Nestle in Switzerland would def. be awesome. Do they have a U.S. HQ? I cant find one.

Forgot Kraft: Northfield sounds like a really nice place. Def. consider that.

I think you've got it a tad mixed up. Cincinnati's a very decent place to live, especially with home prices pretty low there. You could always work out in the field in Customer Business Development. I work for P&G in Orange County, CA.

Also, Nestle's in So Cal as well, in Glendale. ConAgra just moved their headquarters from Orange County to Chicago I believe.

Money goes a long way in Cinci and the midwest--even Chicago.

Home prices and all that stuff dont matter. I just want a nice place to live. I've just heard terrible things about Ohio.
Sonic can you start out in OC, CA? Or do you have to start at the HQ?
So Nestle does have a US HQ? Glendale is nice.
I thought ConAgra is based in Omaha, NE?

Oh, and i'd be fine living in Chi.

naw it's not so bad. Weathers a bit humid but it's actually a pretty cool place to live, complete with nightlife, the reds, and the river.

I did start out in OC. Eventually, I'll go to HQs because you want to do an assignment there anyways.

I live in North East ohio... its not too bad... its just average... and thats all it will ever be.. a feeling of mediocrity takes you over here.... Cinci is def much diff than northern ohio... i lived in ohio my entire life and never been to Cinci.. 5ish hr drive

I'd much rather stay in Beantown after college :)

so whats the avg salary durin ur fifth and 10-15 yrs later?
