My HS junior D emailed a music professor asking for a sample lesson. We haven't heard back (only been a couple of days). How long should we wait and then should we email again or try calling? We are from the north and would like to start making travel plans.

The problem is likely the time of year. At this moment, students are working towards final decisions; priority in the faculty’s attention is on accepted students, not prospective applicants. This is also crunch time for recitals etc. Assuming you’re talking about the flute professor, you’re dealing with an especially busy person. If you have a phone number, I’d recommend giving that a shot after about two more days. But don’t be put off if it’s hard to schedule a lesson right now.

I agree with fiddlefrog. They are extremely busy right now. But to be more specific, if it IS Leone Buyse you’re wanting a lesson from, good luck. She hardly give lessons to high school students. It’s because she’s a snob or anything (She actually a very very nice person), it’s just that she is an especially busy professor. It took one of my friends at least two months to hear back from her via email.
