I know this might not sound as an appropriate question.. but I'd like to see how a winning MIT essay look like, what do they expect?

Essays are not restricted to ‘what the college wants’. Quite the contrary; it’s supposed to be about what you want. I’m also an int’l student, and we don’t need essays here - but get creative. The essays can be done in any way you like as long as they’re not overly long and as long as they still reflect who you are personally. Perhaps you should read the “Match between you and MIT” before writing, to know what MIT looks for.

I am also an international applicant [Brazil!]. Jimmy gave you a great tip; don’t just write about what you think MIT wants to hear (I’ve heard they get plenty of those). Make sure you be yourself and write in your own style. That’s what you and they should be looking for. Don’t worry about being good enough for the university; what you really have to seize is if the college is a match for you. In the case it is, you will get accepted by following the above steps (be yourself!).

Happy new year and may we have a fair competition hahah
