SAMS - Carnegie Mellon - 2010

SAMS Alumi, Answer, Please!

How many Asians, so called OVER-represented minorities such as Koreans & Chinese, did you see in previous SAMS or AP/EA?

I have to decide whether to apply or not. I infinitely hate to write 3 essays for something that I would not even stand a chance for..

Thank you.

Lots of Asians in AP/EA, zilch in SAMs, or at least zilch that I could identify as Korean/Chinese/ other Asian.

Thanks. I had better forget about SAMS. One fewer essay!

you can still apply for both. i would list ap/ea first though if i were you, then SAMS second

SAMS 09 there were 4 or 3 asians

I’m caucasian, so should I not apply to SAMS and jst stick to AP/EA or what exactly? I would love to go to Carnegie-Mellon for a progam, but where should I apply?

AP/EA - It’s rolling admission and our school is on spring break now. Will it be too late if I send everything (transcript, recommendation and essay…) and end of March ?

Ah! The program website says that everything is due by March 1st, but I don’t know if they mean postmarked or recieved. I’m freaking out right now because I just finished my essays, and I won’t be able to get my application to Pittsburgh by Monday.

kevin, its postmarked.

@bigdremer: So, have you applied? I have, even though I was ve—ry skeptical.

I sent the mail on 3/1, but still not there yet. All yours there yet?

No, I decided not to apply. Actually, I’m only applying to YESS and a Cornell internship; crossed SAMS and Clark Scholars off my list. Good luck though! :)
