I got accepted to both and can’t decide which to choose. I would much rather live in San Diego, it’s cheaper and I would enjoy SDSU’s party scene. However, LMU has entertainment connections and better opportunities. I would like my career field to be somewhere in the film & T.V industry. I heard LMU can offer internships for companies such as Paramount. SDSU would save me so much more money and I would love San Diego. My family’s income is 36,000. SDSU tuition is about 16,000 plus room and LMU is about 40,000 plus room. Im really stuck between the two. Opinions anyone?
Without financial aid you can’t afford either option. Are you out of state for California? If so, SDSU will not be affordable at all.
Yes, Im out of state, I filled out my FAFSA in mid-january
You will be full pay for SDSU as an OOSer, except for whatever Pell you qualify for, I believe. How will you pay that cost of attendance? Did you get a financial aid offer from LMU., you did apply for aid, right? Yes they have a strong tv and film dept and industry connections.
As a student, you can borrow:
freshman 5,500
sophomore 6,500
jr 7,500
sr 7,500
SDSU is probably not a good match for that interest area (Long Beach, or Northridge would be better-or UCLA). Finances at a taxpayer supported school would definitely not work out as other posters have mentioned, so all of those are not choices.
USC would be great, and they meet full need.
LMU has had a recent change in President. It has a culture that one either likes or does not. Worth a visit.
If your family’s income is $36,000 a year and you’re OOS for California, both are unaffordable.
Where else have you applied?
