Im having trouble deciding which college to go to. I want to have a great time and also get a good education. I plan to major in business administration so which college would be the better choice?

UCR!!!! of course it's a UC

San Diego State definately. SDSU has a great business program, and plus would you really want to spend the next few years of your life in Riverside? I know a lot of people who got into both schools, many want to major in business, and all chose SDSU over UCR

Here are some factors that lead me to chose UCR.

Honors Program: Priority Registration for classes. Professors teach rather than TAs, or so I'm told.

UC Library: This is a great resource to be able to tap into. CSU's library network isn't anywhere close to that of University of California's.

Graduate on Time: The mean years for a UCR student to graduate from the CHASS is 4.3. As a whole, SDSU's business students can't even come close to that.

hmm lets see why i would chose SDSU over UCR if i were you, because Riverside sucks its plain and simple. The city is a dump, the school is boring and there is absolutely nothing to do around there. I got into the school even though i didnt apply, how funny is that, I would rather have gone to a community college then UCR. SDSU has a better business program anyways. I'm actually going to Cal Poly SLO but I would have gone to SDSU if I didn't get in.

If you applied to the UC system and were rejected by all the schools you applied, it is the state's burden to offer you admission to one of them if you're in the top 12.5% of the state.

I've interned for a bank for 2 years now since the summer of my sophomore year and through meetings and socials, have gotten a chance to meet with quite a few managers. Everybody has their biases on colleges. You'd be surprised at some think of SDSU.

My, the people that Cal Poly opened its door this year, some of them outright surprises me.

i really don't understand why people think any cal poly is as good as ucr. Sure SLO might have better engineering but their university as a whole < UCR. Honestly, if UCR was in a better area it'd be at least 20 notches higher in the US news ranking.

Because the students at cal poly and SDSU are much better than the students at UCR. UCR isn't a bad school, in fact I would consider it for grad school, but SDSU and CP seem to have a leg up. This is only for undergrad, though. UCR is a better grad school.

Hmm, that's sort of true. I mean, on average, sure, the SDSU student is statistically higher than the UCR student (i'm pretty sure), but I'd take the top 10% of UCR students over the top 10% of SDSU students anyday of the week.

I made a couple of errors on my post above. I meant: "You'd be surprised at what some people think of SDSU", "and opened its door this year to".

Concerning people who say Riverside is trash compared to San Diego, I ponder if they've ever visited both places. Lemon Grove, El Cajon, and La Mesa, the 3 neighboring districts of the SDSU campus, are horrid. A San Diego native just has to turn on the news at night to hear negative things about the campus. The crime rate, and the actual nature of the crimes themselves, is just intolerable. At least there's a border patrol check point around Temecula to keep a number of illegal immigrants from reaching Riverside. The poorer districts of San Diego, on the other hand, is a haven for illegals. Call me crazy, but if I choose to live off-campus later, I want to be able to drive to school without seeing a bunch of migrant workers lined up on the streets waiting for a potential employer every single day.

I firmly believe that at any school, you'll find your smart students and a share of those who truely do not know what it means to be at college. Two of my closest friends that graduated a year earlier than me went to SDSU. The 2 aztecs partied and one's dropped out after getting straight Fs. As for the other, his GPA is about 1.5.

And again, as observed on this many times on this site and from Surfer Dude's post, some people getting into good colleges do not even have simple mastery of English grammer let alone the skills to express a concrete thought effectively. Also, let us not began to analyze how much ignorance his remarks exhibit for our study will surely embarrass him further than he has already embarrassed himself.

Where I come from SDSU is seen as alot more prestigious then UCR. I'm sure they are both great schools though, with each one having an advantage over the other in certain areas.
But in this case San Diego's business school would probably be a better choice.

I thought UCR is known for its business major.

admitted students stats at UCR is probably skewed because the UC system is required by law to accept the top 12.5 percent.

SDSU business program is more regional - if you want to work at San Diego then its a great choice. However, i've found that its prestige really doesn't extend beyond the San Diego area. Riverside, though not prestigious, is still a UC and ranked #85 so i would think it'd be more highly regarded nationally and in state.

And UCR is known for its business major because its only one of the two that has one, the other one being Haas at UCB (extremely competitive).

SDSU is right next to the second largest city in California--a perfect place to gain work experience via internships if you're planning on going into Business. It's hard to do that in Riverside where most of the surroundings are all rural.

Walnuts- Please don't nominate yourself chief of grammar police before you check your own posts.

UCR!!!!! definitely it has a really good business program. and its a UC...no competition

Most of Riverside's surroundings rural? I think that's too broad of a generalization.

Giants, even with slight peccadillos, I think I'm still at the forefront of this nomination process you speak of.

Surely, you must agree that communicating written messages in a proper manner is vital as a show of respect for your peers. I don't believe in being lackadaisical.

I fear just one year of a british literature class has had a prodigious effect on me.

Dude chill out, stop trying to impress people it's just an internet forum, not an english language skill test.

your head has swollen to ginormous proportions. jk
