My first post on here. I found out I didn’t get into SFCM and I’m heartbroken because that was my dream. I applied for Viola Bachelor of Music. (Could anyone offer me some consolation on how competitive it is?) Also, if you did get in, could you give me any advice. I did get in SFSU School of Music but I know it’s not as “prestigious” but does it have a good reputation? If I don’t get in UCLA or UCSB it might be my only option. Also, what is the community like at SFSU? I really want to know if SFSU has a good enough music program if I really want to go somewhere with this.
Thanks
Side note: Do you think it’s possible to do USC Thornton for grad school?
I’m sure you could have a fruitful experience at SFSU if you take advantage of all the resources and work hard at your music. As for what happens after for grad school - that will be up to you. Getting into Thornton for grad school is one of the most competitive admits, so, who knows if it will be possible - it will depend on your development in the next years. If you do choose SFSU, I would recommend you supplement with summer festival programs where you can meet teachers and students from around the world to help broaden your experience.
Thank you for the advice! I’ve also gotten into UC Santa Barbara
