Heres the deal political science major want totransfer either to SFSU/ SJSU or cal state san marcos/San diego state university all cal states two are in the bay area two in san diego. I plan to attend law school afterwards fitst what CSU should i try to get into out of these four opitions? Im sure they are all good as far as political science but how about law school ? I heard san jose economy is booming where would be ideal for someone in my situation ?
Law schools are only going to care about your GPA and LSAT scores. You need to go where you can get the best possible grades.
SDSU is probably out of reach with your GPA (as you’ve reported it). San Marcos sounds like a low(er) key place to dig in and study hard.
Good luck!
Also, check the job market for attorneys.
My sister works for a large corporate firm with offices in California, NY and Texas. She has indicated that the law school graduate market is saturated with unemployed law students who have huge loans to repay. They are not hiring because they have in-house partners who recommend grads from the elite law schools. (Also, lots of people use the internet for their business law services and DIY kits, which cuts down the need for “actual” attorneys).
County governments who use Public Defenders have noticed that many “elder” attorneys are not “retiring” and going out to start their own practices-too much investment money for an HR, and a “start up”-so, they are staying put. (They get county benefits, they don’t have to hire/fire staff and pay for health insurance, etc.) This limits options for some new attorneys.
Unless you have a parent or relative with a law practice who is willing to employ you, you had better check your employment options.
