Would I be better off at a UC or CSU?

So I’m in a bit of a dilemma I don’t know what would be better for me to go to UC Davis and major in Sociology with a an emphasis on Law and Society or go to Sac State/San Jose state and major in criminal justice with a minor in Business.

If this information helps I don’t necessarily want to be a lawyer it’s just not my path (but I still want to keep graduate school open for my future). I was thinking about being a Street level sheriff and then working my way up to either the FBI as a special agent or join the DEA etc. (I know to join you need work experience in the field with a degree).

Im split because I know I can transfer to any of the 3 schools I listed with little ease and I’m tempted by the UC TAG offer but I know sac has a great CJ program with a pretty good Business program and SJ has a pretty good CJ program along with the great Business program.

I always hear how great UC’s are compared to CSU’s but would this even matter for my field? Also I do know UC Irvine is the top dog for what I want to study but I don’t want to live in SoCal and would rather stay in Northern California.

Any input would be great.

I would apply to all these schools, see where you do get admitted and continue researching all options in regards to the programs. I would try to visit the schools, meet with some students in your interested major and see what kind of feedback you get.

Best of luck.

If Irvine has a degree program that is in exactly what you want and is well ranked, then I think that I would put up with southern California for two or three or four years then move back north after graduating.
