I applied to UCSB and UCSD for computer engineering, but was admitted to both as undeclared. My question is, which one would I be more likely to be able to transfer in to engineering? I know UCSD has a lottery system, so I’m leaning more towards UCSB, which has specific requirements to apply. I know its really hard to get in even if you do complete the requirements, but I’m wondering how often petitions are successful to transfer in. Any other information you guys have would really be appreciated! These are the only links I’ve been able to find so far btw

They have discussed it in depth in a couple other threads. Good luck
I would call the Engineering departments of each of these schools and ask the question directly, how many prospective students are able to switch into the major. Did you get any direct admit acceptances?
UCSB: depending on which discipline, more or less can enter. I pretty adamant about mechanical and electrical. As long as you can obtain A’s in your pre major courses and get a meeting with an advisor so they let you get into some of the courses that are limited to engineering. Its hard to get those A’s though, you need to be well versed in physics as our department goes really fast through the intro courses and you’re expected to already know/teach yourself the material. Basically as long as you can get some killer grades you’ll have a real good chance of switching at SB. Not to mention i think SB as a school all around is better than SD >:)
