Hey all, I'm trying to transfer to SCU this upcoming Winter 2015 quarter as an international student and when I had called their financial aid office a while back they told me they do not offer any financial aid for international transfer students. Now, I know its an expensive school and you might think if I can't afford it maybe I shouldn't really apply at all. But I'm just posting this to see if there is in fact anything they can or might be able to offer for international transfer students. Thanks. Any international students attending this school wanna tell me how they're affording it if they're paying for it not by their parents?

If they told you they do not offer aid to international transfer students, then they do NOT offer aid to international transfer students. You will need to fund the full cost of attendance yourself. It’s well over $50,000 a year.

ETA…even IF you are eligible to apply for aid at Santa Clara, the school does not guarantee to meet full need for all…and they don’t. It is highly unlikely that you would get sufficient institutional need based aid to cover your costs even as a citizen applying.

How much can your family pay?

Also, you need to know…in the majority of cases, colleges do not award high need based institutional aid to spring transfer students from anywhere…and even less to international students (some schools that offer much more limited aid to international students anyway).

Thumper is right.

I highly doubt that you are going to get any SCU int’ls posting on this thread, especially transfer students.

SCU, like most Catholic univs, does not give aid to int’ls. They just don’t have the funds. They have to limit their aid to help the domestic students, which is still difficult for them.

I can offer this…Int’ls who are attending SCU are either paying full freight, or they live with family/relatives nearby and commute to save some costs.

It sounds like you can’t afford SCU. Either stay at your current school or find somewhere else. However, there are only a tiny number of schools that give great aid for int’l transfers. Do not cut ties with your current school until you see the aid pkg from any new school.

Your posting history demonstrates how you have been having cost issues for YEARS. A few years ago, you got accepted to BU and then learned that you couldn’t afford it. Then you tried to go to another school, and couldn’t afford to enroll there, either. Now it sounds like you are attending a school that you want to leave. Can you afford your current school? If so, stay THERE.

If you currently are attending a school that your family will pay for, then do not play any more games. You are not going to get the aid you need. Your only other alternatives is to transfer to a school that has a very low COA…like some on that $25k or less list. There are two Maine schools that have extremely low COAs.

Alright guys. Thanks!
