Santa Clara vs Puget Sound

I completely agree. the people are not the same, and the clothes do not make the person. However, it is not my decision, it is hers. I stated my concerns, asked her to look deeper, and she still didn’t feel like it was a fit. So long scholarship - helllo increased mac and cheese.

shoot4moon…I’m so confused…what is your daughter’s choice? Seems like there are two discussions going on this thread.

There do seem to be multiple discussions going on. If our house, we knew mac & cheese would cause H lactose intolerance, so for us, it’s really PBJ sandwiches or lots of rice. The multiple discussions do add confusion.

OP, have you & your student reached a final choice?

The OP asked about Seattle U Vs. Santa Clara. Our DD strongly considered both, got a good scholarship for SU, but the Northwest was not a good fit for her. Gorgeous - lovely - just not a good fit. I was merely warning the OP that she shouldn’t encourage Northwest if she hadn’t visited. Our DD isn’t going to either - she chose Boston Univerisity.

I always wonder- when do families separate school and athletics? Unless a student is a recruited athlete with a future in the pro’s or Olympic bound- the school is most important. High School is over- sports seem to be a habit for kids and families and they think they are equal in weight when selecting their University education. Switch to inter-mural/recreation level sports is what is most appropriate at this time of life. And if the sport is not getting the kid $$$ or a hook into a reach school or not division 1- I just don’t get picking the school for a sport. High school is the end of the fog that everyone is a great athlete who gets to play and improve. If it hasn’t happened by high school, rarely does it happen later.

take a breath ok, Santa Clara is a better school and located in an area that has very loyal employers- Santa Clara and SJSU grads do very well with internships and jobs. I don’t think any employer cares about division 3 track. But, it is your money. Nice thing about track is it can be pursued personally through out ones life.

OP’s question was between Santa Clara and University of Puget Sound, not Seattle University!

No personal affiliation with the school, and one does not hear much of it in local news media, but I live in the region and know of several Santa Clara business grads (grad school, though) who have been highly successful recently here in Silicon Valley, with rewarding positions.

I’d pick Santa Clara in a heartbeat (I think it tremendously underrated), but I’ll bet there are folks who would say just the opposite. (Does UPS even have a business school?)

I would pick Santa Clara too…but then I’m a bit biased as DD is a graduate of the school. We thought it was simply terrific (disclaimer…DD was an engineering major…not business).

But really…the STUDENT should be doing the pickin’…the student will be going to college, not the parents. If the finances are not an issue, then the student should get to make the choice…in my opinion.
