I’m trying to decide between Santa Cruz and Davis. I know Davis is ranked higher academically, but Santa Cruz has a Human Biology major that basically sets you up with clinical experience and research, the whole deal for med school prep. Does Davis have any similar opportunities?

Far as I know, Santa Cruz does have a good line with the clinical experience and research as you stated. I would definitely choose Santa Cruz over Davis. Haven’t heard much about Davis.

Students at UC Davis can apply to intern at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento through the Internship and Career Center (ICC) on campus. Also, at UC Davis, in their anatomy class, they get REAL, human cadavers to learn anatomy from. I don’t know if UCSC even does that.

However, getting the internship is extremely competitive, according to one of my roommates who has interned there before (for occupational therapy). Spots fill up really quickly.

It sounds like you’re very well-informed and capable of giving advice to prospective students.

Edit: Oh, you’re a high school senior and the only school you got into was UCSC. Even better.
