I’m trying to get my financial aid back for the fall semester, and was wondering if anyone could give me tips to improve my letter. I’m in SAP status because of my 1.6 gpa at that college and a low cumulative completion rate.
Dear, Financial aid committee
This is my second appeal letter, my first was not successful. The circumstances that lead to my SAP status were at the time an undiagnosed Autism disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. This caused me to have social difficulties required for my classes, and the Anxiety contributed to me dropping classes in fear that I would fail. Since 2015 I have taken steps to improve the situations that lead me to having a 1.6 gpa and an unsatisfactory completion rate. My doctor has prescribed me medicine to help with the Anxiety and I have been doing better in classes as a result.
In 2018 I attended **** college for computer information systems, I earned a 3.5 gpa and even made the Dean’s list. This year I have changed my major from Biology to Computer Science, a subject I am more passionate about.
Currently I am in touch with my adviser, we have come up with a plan for me to reach a 2.0 gpa by fall and I will check in with him weekly to monitor my academic process. In addition I am taking part in the academic recovery program provided by the school, and have applied for disability services for Autism spectrum disorder in order to get the accommodations needed for my classes.
Thank you for your time.
Here is the criteria they are searching for, I’m trying to make sure I meet the standards.
