I have a question about how my daughter might fare at SLC. She's been offered admission from the waiting list and is still considering. While I think SLC will be a great match for her intellectual and artistic interests, I'm worried about how she will fit in coming from a small semi-rural California town and a highly ethnically diverse, mostly working-class public high school. She is bi-racial. What can any of you tell me about the student body and the snobbishness factor?
Thanks for any help you can give!

SL is very liberal, it attracks self admitted quirky types and is quite diverse. Your daughter should be just fine.

I wouldn't worry at all.

Thanks to you both. Since we can't afford to visit, it really is helpful to hear from people with some knowledge of schools on the other side of the country.

Your daughter could ask the school to put her in touch -- via the internet -- with some current students. My daughter got a lot of information about the college she's going to via email - and the anonimity allowed her to pose very honest questions & receive very honest responses.
