^LOL!!!
10 char

A lot of people on CC are just warped into thinking that going into a good university qualifies as a top candidate.

Politics here on CC is kinda tough. She's a tough reformer, stands up to big oil, young and goofy, has firm values (Still has a child knowing the Down Syndrom in advance?), rising star in the Republicans long before the elections and is a conservative (McCain's big weakness).

Interesting and risky but that's the way it is with VPs. You point out stuff like being a Washington insider etc in the other candidate then you have to pick someone just like that because you don't have it. I mean Obama in his speech blasts McCain for being in Washington for the last 28 years. Are you kidding me? You had just acknowledged Biden as a guy with 30 years???

And same applies for McCain where he blasts Obama for inexperience but in an attempt to rally young voters he has to get a young VP so he goes with Palin.

And Hutchinson would have spelt out McWar more then ever. Plus a Texan Congressman with an Arizona senator who's father and grandfather were admirals? That equals WWIII.

And Alaska is not a big state war? Oh yeah forgot Delaware carries like 60, huh? Oh wait, they're both 3...

Gunna be a fun campaign for sure. As for her vs Putin? She's quite a steely lady and Obama flip flops on how he'll handle rogue states as well.

NOTE: Neither a Republican or a Democrat at the moment. I supported the Liberals in Australia but both parties in Australia are more left wing there. I'm more a socially liberal economic conservative kinda guy..

Anyone hear that Palin's daughter maybe the actual mother of the Down Syndrome baby. Normally I wouldn't care if that happened but I think its very applicable in this case since Palin is very pro-family and pro-abstinence

^leave that to the National Enquirer to look into, IMHO.

I don't think it was a stupid decision. Regardless of whether you agree with McCain, she's going to help him gain support with conservatives, especially with those for whom abortion and the Second Amendment are really important. There will be some women who flock to her simply because she's a woman, and there will be plenty of people who like her because she practices what she preaches (not only pro-gun, but actually a hunter who's a member of the NRA; not only pro-life, but had a child with Down Syndrome). She's not a bad pick at all, and honestly she's probably better for his campaign than, say, Romney or Rice would have been.

Whether or not she's ready to be Commander-in-Chief is a completely different story, but she's almost definitely going to be good for his campaign.

At first I decided that I like McCain and I would have voted for him. But now I'm not sure if I should vote for such a pretty woman who could one day run the country. I'm going to have to disappoint my family and vote for Obama.

Shhh. Do you hear that? It's the sound of the Chinese laughing their heads off.

Even McCain can't seriously believe that this woman could run the country. This was an obvious political stunt to attract Hillary's supporters while appeasing the hardcore conservatives. I've lost all respect for McCain; he obviously doesn't care about putting the country at risk as long as he gets into the White House.

I'm losing my faith in this country...

Eh, I'm with the general consensus here..

I have a vague idea of who Fudge is, but the latter I've never heard or seen of...so I didn't catch this joke. :(

I love politics on CC, because everyone thinks they know everything. And people even make Harry Potter jokes, too!

Unoriginal,

Of course everyone here knows everything! It's unfathomable that we don't, because we are just SOOOOOO smart and SOOOOOO aware of how the world works. You know, because 18 years as a layman and a lifetime as a political personality, THAT's the same thing!

Non-sarcastic response: You're right on.

Intelligence comes in many forms.

But of course, pulling 99.14159265 in Physics and loving calculus to the point of becoming aroused at the sight of equations automatically is default intelligence status in every sense of the word. Obviously...

(and unlike Baelor, my post has no trace nor intention of sarcasm but only 100.14159265 seriousness)

Is this not the first time we have heard of Palin? Has anyone ever heard of Palin on the news before this news that she became McCain's VP?

What a joke. WHo else would these conservatives vote for? Certainly not Obama, Mcain already had them. I as a Obama supporter could not be happier over this pick since it is so horrendous, Romney would have been a tough one or even Lieberman would have been better. You win elections by keeping your base and appealing to independent/undecided voters. Mcain had the base since Obama was not an option for them and thus he really had to appeal to independents. O and fyi Baelor stop acting as if you can judge people, I actually do think I know a lot about politics, because I am informed on the issues and follow the campaigns, so stop the your bs. I heard you criticizing kids for drinking (were underage) and now for expressing their beliefs, you need to chill a little and live...

McCain already had the crossburning wing to vote against a black man. Palin gets the witchburning wing excited now. They will both try to ensure the greedyb*stard wing stays in power.

Let me deconstruct your post point-by-point, Bescraze.

"O and fyi Baelor stop acting as if you can judge people,"

Why wouldn't I be able to judge their actions? I'm not judging people, I'm stating the facts. CCers consider themselves intelligent. I was considering making a thread about how often I see "Well, we are some of the top/most intelligent student..." or "CC attracts the top students..." What did I say that was incorrect? It's all true.

"I actually do think I know a lot about politics, because I am informed on the issues and follow the campaigns,"

So do I. But I wouldn't pretend to know enough about the Palin pick to start talking about the implications. If you don't believe me, check the thread in the Parent Caf

^Invoyable, if you've never heard of Dolores Umbridge or Cornelius Fudge, then you've definitely never read the 5th book (Order of the Phoenix) or seen the movie.

Definitely check it out. Only then will you truly understand my comparison ;)

Baelor won the topic. End of story.

:O I've never won a topic before! I feel honored!

You earned it!
