Has anyone had SARGSYAN for math this past quarter? How are his tests/grading?

his class is a joke…

Oh god that guy is awesome.

lol what do you mean by “joke” in terms of difficulty? I took brown for 31B last year got a C- and am looking to retake with SARGSYAN. How are his tests?

eassssssssy

lulz premed cant handle maths?

Don’t know how you bombed with Brown???

I mean, I had none, ZERO calculus knowledge coming into college (I didn’t even know the unit circle thing) and I got a B in 31a and an A- in 31b.

I just found Brown’s tests to be quite hard, I think I would perform better if I had a teachers whose test format was more straightforward and correlated with the homework better. So if this is the case with Sargsyan that would be great to know…

Yeah he basically lifts the questions off the homework (at least he did for us in 116).

So he just takes questions from the homework directly but changes the numbers? How were his weekly quizzes (I know its a different math class but just wondering how difficult they were)

I had him for 31a, his tests began with a few questions off of the challenge problems from the homework (directly) and the proofs he did in class, but then the questions started to come more from the questions in the book he hadn’t assigned, along with the proofs and proof applications. We didn’t have weekly quizzes, he planned on giving them but changed his mind because “it’s too complicated”. He didn’t seem to care too much for the students’ improvement. He curved VERY generously, considering I failed the two midterms but did fairly well on the final, I got a B overall.

Thanks for letting me know about the test format! So it sounds like his class wasn’t too bad? I am terrible with proofs, but it seems unavoidable for a calculus class

I don’t remember doing proofs for 32AB, but proofs are unavoidable for linear algebra classes (33A + 115A)

so what do proofs look like for a 31B class then?
