Sat 1 Math Question

Just wondering - say all other scores were within middle 50% including SAT subject tests for math and science, what Sat 1 Math would be considered too low to be competitive for admission?

I have read the incoming freshman class profile so I know that Middle 50% lower end is 750, but is scoring 700-740 enough or too low?

There is a link to a 2004 blog post by Matt McGann that says “the magic 1600” is not implicitly better than “the spellbinding 1400” - however, this blog post is 10 yrs old.

Did any of you unhooked recently admitted students get in with Math 1 between 700 and 740?

Thanks.

MIT only looks at your test scores to make sure that they can be confident that you will be able to successfully complete the required course work. A score of 700+ seems to be the determining factor. That doesn’t mean that a lower score will get you automatically rejected but it does mean that if you’ve reached the 700 threshold, that they now can move on to the rest of your application to determine if you will be a good addition to the class.

Thanks @rothstem !

I didn’t get in with an SAT1 math score between 700 and 740 – mine was a 690. :slight_smile:

@molliebatmit Woot!
