Okay, so i have to take the Sat 2 Chemistry subject test in two days... it is the last chance I have. I have taken it once already and only scored a 500. The thing is that my school offered chemistry freshman year... I have forgotten most of it.

I have studied a lot since my first test but realistically i think i will only be able to score about a 600. Will this score keep me out of Carnegie Mellon or simmilar schools that require the Chem test? I have a 3.8 unweighted GPA and an ACT score of 31. My extracurriculars are pretty good but I am really freaking out about this chemistry test. AHH!

I just kind of feel jipped because there is no way I can compete with students who have just taken a chemistry class...
Thank you

Thanks for the info but thats not what i mean. Would a score in such a low percentile range keep me out of carnegie or simmilar schools even though the rest of my transcript is on par? Is my chance completley zero with such a low score? =(

ps. Carnegie requires a chemistry subject test

No way! I talked to an admissions counselor from Carnegie Mellon (I’m applying there too :D), and he said that it’s only one part of the application.

Pretty much, even though it’s part of your application, it’s just that. It’s a small part too, that they take into account, but if that’s your only weak point (like mine), then you’ll probably still have a great shot! Just try to make sure that everything else of your application is even better than normal to compensate a little bit. Good luck!

Hey thanks for the reply… made me feel more confident about the test tommorow morning. It is 12 here now… time to go to bed. Good luck on your application!
