Can you show us? Otherwise this is just anecdotal.
It’s true. I can confirm it and I’m a parent.
@LeastComplicated and my boyfriend is a french underwear model. Prove it. I am not saying it isnt true but I am saying prove it…
@Center prove what? That the test was previously given? Go look on reddit. It’s been all over there with links since Saturday early afternoon (eastern time).
Yikes. Last year, I found (after the fact) the reading section of the SAT online as a PDF. I reported it to the organization, and they received the report. The results were not cancelled.
Google:
Reddit The test today is literally right on my Chinese SAT practice book
@Center I’ve had multiple friends tell me that they’ve seen the test online and used it to study before the SATs as prep material, unaware it was going to br recycled. The tests themselves are all over Reddit.
The only thing the CB can do–SHOULD do, MUST do!–is to stop recycling tests. It knows this, but its revenue motive is too strong. I’d say I’m disappointed, but I’ve been in the test prep too long to ever hope the CB will do the right thing.
It is not hard to find the test on reddit. Unfortunately, it is very true that they used the exact same test as October 2017 Intl.
College Confidential would not allow the links here unless the link is to an authoritative site like the CB (yeah, like that will happen), a news site, or a .edu site. Believe it, don’t believe it. It’s your choice. But the discussion with the links is alive and well on another site that contains a color name.
There’s an article about it up this morning:
This after the June SAT fiasco? College Board is a hot mess.
I worked with them in a professional capacity (they were a vendor for a state education project I was running) and color me unimpressed even back then – it was some years ago.
I think, maybe, even this discussion skirts ethics- both CC and testing.
Why dont they just create new tests at random out of a database of questions–each one tagged with an assigned difficulty or level --an algorithm could then ensure each test had the right mix of questions . They could then add new questions to the database yearly. There could be an additional filter so that no more than 20% of questions could be allowed in a test that were from earlier than a certain date say one year or 1.5 years . Anyone from Korea and China should have their tests scrutinized heavily. Cheating is not going away–people have been cheating forever. They need to use technology to try to minimize the value of cheating on these tests.
The CB has cancelled all of the scores out of China before right? They should do it with all of Asia. If they do that then maybe the cheaters and potential cheaters will modify their behavior. For my kid who studied hard over the summer I would be furious but for someone who bought (or was given the test before hand) the test in advance–I have no sympathy.
“Reports circulate that questions used were available beforehand on leaked versions in Asia.” …
The August 25 2018 SAT was found online as it was an international test previously. Will the test be cancelled?
@skieurope I didn’t know that but thank you. There seems to be links to things all the time on here. I guess I am out of the loop on the SAT and the internet. You know–trust and verify.
Not specific to this test date but I guess I can only ask here.
WHY DOES THE CB REUSE TEST QUESTIONS?
Don’t they make enough money to write new questions?
@3scoutsmom I will be curious to see. If parts of the test are found online (I havent looked or seen anything myself) maybe sections were re-used and not the whole test?
