I've heard rumors that some East Coast schools prefer the SAT over the ACT. I believe these to be mythological since almost all schools accept both. But does anyone know for sure?

Often mentioned issue, and the answer is no unless you want to believe, as some do, that colleges are lying when they say they have no preference. Princeton was the last school to state a preference for the SAT but that no longer appears on its website and it says it takes either. Only one set of schools that I am aware currently state a preference, which they adopted two years ago – the Cal Poly’s, which are in a state where the SAT is the test taken by most, state a preference for the ACT.

It looks the local college in my area, and my fall back, Brooklyn College ([Brooklyn College Web Site](http://www.brooklyn.cuny.edu)) only accepts the SAT. (It does not even mention the ACT on their site).

Nobody knows for sure. If colleges say they have no preference, take their word for it. Send in the test you do better on.
