<p>I've heard that this year, for the first time, a lot of weight is being put on the writing portions of the tests for FSU, UF and USF (not sure about UCF and others).</p>

Not sure if this is really the reason, but the writing portion of the SAT has turned out to be a good indicator for success in college and it is given equal weight at most Florida universities.</p>

<p>FSU has required the writing portion via SAT OR ACT be available for review since 2006, and has used the writing scores in their decision making starting with decisions made in 2008 for FSU class of 2013. This is not the first year.</p>
