Hey... I took the December SAT and turns out my scores went down. My highest has been a 1900- 610 M 610 CR 680 W. I'm a senior and I was hoping my scores would improve. Do you think it's possible to get it to 2000+ in less than a month? I've studied a lot and it seems my scores won't budge. This is realllyyyy frustrating.

Hello Karen,

I would ask first how many times you’ve taken the test and what were the composite score?

Secondly, if you have your heart set on the 2000 mark (which is the point where colleges start seeing that you mean business), learning some test-taking skills. These have nothing to do with the test content, they have to do with knowing how the test is written, what questions to omit (because there are some question written into the test for the purpose of tripping you up. I know, evil right?). The test-taking skills are particularly useful on the Math portion of the SAT.

At this point, learning test mechanics is your best bet. But don’t stress so much. Your current score is well above the national average. What colleges are you looking at?
