Why colleges that do superscore also want all your sat scores? If I did incredibly bad at my first sitting and got a decent score on my last one, would this affect my application negatively? Also should I send all sat 2s if that college’s score policy is send all scores?
A few reasons.
• Some applicants are blessed with the ability to pay for multiple testings and SAT prep while others are not; sending all scores helps the university put the score into context.
• Some applicants will overly obsess over scores and will retake a 2350 and perhaps that particular university is not looking for test taking drones this year.
From 2 sittings, no.
If the university specifically says “all scores” without qualifiers, then yes. Many univeristies will require all SAT scores, but allow score choice on subject tests, so check each website and contact admissions directly if there is any doubt.
@skieurope Would it hurt me if I took sat 4 times with inclining scores?
Declining? Yes.
@anxiousenior1 Sorry, I meant increasing except the last one. I messed up the essay on that one. However, all subscores increased or stayed the same after each test. How much would it hurt me?
That would not hurt you, as long as there was a general upwards trend.
What does “have the ability to take SAT as many times as you want” mean? Does that mean taking the test 3 or 4 times? I don’t often see people taking the tests over 4 times. Because if you’re poor, don’t you get 2 free testing waivers per year? So with junior and senior year, a person could take 3 SATs + 3 subject tests (1 sitting) for free, or even take 4 SATs for free which is usually more than enough. I don’t understand why colleges say this.
