I kind of just skipped through it and put down random stuff for my student profile for the SAT and ACT because I didn’t want to spend an hour registering for the tests. Would that negatively affect my standing with colleges or do they not have access to my profile?
Here is what ACT sends to colleges: http://www.act.org/content/dam/act/unsecured/documents/College-Report.pdf. SAT reports similar information. Some of the information in profiles is used to generate profit-making mailing lists but is not passed directly to the college.
You don’t have to fill in ANY of that profile stuff they ask for. It makes no difference, except to the data they accumulate and can sell to the schools. It really bothers me how they make it look like its required as part of your test registration. It is NOT! We always leave it all blank.
We found all that info to be intrusive and a waste of time. Thanks for clarifying it does not matter at all, save for drumming up more money for College Board.
