Does a good SAT score make up for an average GPA

Usually not. At least, not completely.

Your SAT is based on your performance on one particular Saturday. Your GPA is based on how well you did, slogging through the tedious stuff and everything, month after month for three years.

A high SAT may get you an offer of merit aid or an invitation to an honors program at a college where your grades make you otherwise qualified, but a high SAT is unlikely to get you into a college where your grades don’t make the cut.

91.3 Weighted *

you’re only a junior, right? No test scores yet, right?

If so, you have time to bump your GPA a bit. are you on track this semester?

A 91.3 GPA isn’t bad. What kind of schools are you interested in?

Mom2collegekids

I’m mainly interested in Penn State, UGA, Pittsburgh, and Wake Forest as reaches.

Make sure you have a talk with your parents about what they can afford. The PA and GA schools are OOS for you and will be expensive (you’re also OOS for Wake but since it’s private that doesn’t matter).

I did a already and they said they’d pay it. Thank you Erin’sDad

Thank your parents every night. And if your mom wants a kiss once in a while, it won’t hurt your cred.

Yes, thank your parents.
Make sure though that they do HAVE the money and don’t intend to borrow $30,000 every year for you (which means they’d have to work until they die to pay it off :s)
To bring up your chances, prepare the SAT thoroughly.

To increase your chances, prepare the SAT thoroughly since these schools are fairly numerical; in addition, if you reach 1400 CR+M, you may have access to small merit scholarships to help your parents’ costs.

Thanks everyone!!! I don’t mean to sound cocky or anything but money is not much of an issue for my family. But thanks for all the positive feedback!
